Hey, there! Are you looking for things to do with kids in Colorado Springs this weekend? I will list here my top 5 here for you. Enjoy!
This mountain zoo, nestled against the breathtaking backdrop of Cheyenne Mountain, is home to over 750 animals representing more than 170 species from around the world. Its distinctive tiered layout, immersive exhibits along the mountainside, and strong commitment to conservation and education through programs dedicated to endangered species and ecosystems make this zoo a favorite. Feeding the giraffes is undoubtedly the highlight during our repeated visits. This is a must for the whole family.
Garden of the Gods is a natural wonder and iconic landmark located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Renowned for its towering red rock formations, this geological marvel is a testament to the immense power of nature. Visitors can explore numerous trails, marvel at sandstone rock formations sculpted by centuries of erosion, and enjoy breathtaking vistas with opportunities for hiking, rock climbing, and photography against the backdrop of Pikes Peak and the Rocky Mountains at Garden of the Gods.. This is a great place to go on a walk around the park with kids.
Cave of the Winds, located in Manitou Springs, Colorado, is an exhilarating underground adventure that takes visitors deep into the heart of the Rocky Mountains. This natural wonder features a network of awe-inspiring limestone caverns filled with intricate formations and otherworldly landscapes. Guided tours allow guests to explore the subterranean beauty, discover geological marvels like stalactites and stalagmites, and learn about the cave’s fascinating history. My 5 years old wasn’t too thrilled but this is a perfect location for kids and families that enjoy caves.
This unique museum offers visitors a chance to step into the Old West and experience the frontier spirit of the late 1800s. Through meticulously reconstructed buildings and authentic artifacts, the Ghost Town Museum recreates the atmosphere of a bygone era. You can wander through the dusty streets of a carefully designed Western town, complete with saloons, general stores, blacksmith shops, and more. The museum’s exhibits bring to life the daily routines, challenges, and adventures of early pioneers and settlers. It’s a hands-on experience where visitors can touch, feel, and immerse themselves in the history and culture of the American frontier, making it an educational and entertaining destination for all ages. I visited there before having kids, but I plan on taking them this upcoming winter.
The PlayStreet Museum is a beloved destination for young children and families, offering an interactive and educational play experience. With multiple locations across the United States, each museum is designed to ignite children’s creativity and curiosity. Inside, kids can explore imaginative, themed play areas that encourage hands-on learning and role-playing. Although we haven’t visited this particular location, we did go to the one in Highlands Ranch, and the kids really enjoyed it.
What do think? Have you been to any of these locations? Certainly, I’m sure you’ve been to Garden of the Gods, a beloved destination for both families and photographers. Now, let’s think about your next family session and let’s have a chat with me. I am a child, family and senior photographer and I would love to work with you.
