Hi everyone! Are you wondering what you will do with your kids this weekend? Or maybe they are on school break the upcoming week, and you need plans to help them burn off some energy. Well, I have a few places that I love taking my kids to for a fun day. Check out my 6 favorite things to do with kids in Denver.
The Denver Zoo is a perfect option for children to have a day filled with fun and adventure. We usually go there a few times a year, and my kids still look amazed every time. You can plan on a whole day there since there are lots of animals to see. Sometimes, we explore only one side of the zoo and leave the rest for a next visit. Our favorite exhibits include flamingos, elephants, penguins, sea lions, and the carousel.
The Denver Downtown Aquarium is one of our favorites. We love looking at the sharks and touching stingrays, and my daughter is always thrilled by the occasional mermaid shows they have a few times a year. After exploring the aquarium, we never forget to grab a bite at the restaurant every time. Our family always plans on having lunch there, and we wait for a table near the entrance where you can watch the sharks swim. It’s an amazing experience for little kids and the whole family.
The Denver Nature and Science Museum is a fascinating place. My kids love exploring the exhibits, and their favorite spot is the Discovery Zone, where they can play, search for fossils, and have fun with water activities. So, I always bring a change of clothes because they always get wet. It’s usually full in the summer and we usually try to go on school days.
The Children’s Museum of Denver is another fun location for kids. This interactive museum offers learning, and creativity. My kids enjoy playing with bubbles, exploring the firetruck exhibit, building things, and have a great time in the outdoor playground area before we head back home.
Are you looking for something free and fun to do? What about a tour at Hammond’s Candy Factory?! You can book a tour, and they show how they make lollipops, candy canes, and many other yummy things. It’s pretty interesting and a fun thing to do with the family.
This refuge is open 7 days a week, and it’s free if you want to visit. You and your family can enjoy nature and see an amazing variety of wildlife like deer, bison, raptors, different types of birds, coyotes, and many other that I can’t think of right now. They have hiking trails or you can enjoy their 11-mile Wildlife Drive auto tour which kids absolutely love.
What do you think of these locations? Have you visited all of them? If not, plan a visit this spring or summer. There are so many things to do with kids in Denver.
